About The Exegetical Foundry
A personal exploration into the art and discipline of understanding the Ancient, Sacred Scriptures of Old.
Our Mission
The Exegetical Foundry exists to increase awareness of exegesis—the thoughtful, disciplined study of texts in order to uncover their original meaning, context, and intent. Through this practice, we seek to illuminate how the Ancient, Sacred Scriptures of Old and related writings can speak meaningfully into our modern world.
About the Author
This website is an independent project created and maintained by a student of biblical literature and a lifelong admirer of Yahweh, the God of Israel. It represents a personal effort to study, interpret, and share reflections on ancient texts—not as a scholar, but as a devoted learner and explorer of the human spirit through the written word.
Although the author approaches these subjects from a Judeo-Christian perspective, The Exegetical Foundry is written for all people—including those of different faiths, backgrounds, and worldviews, as well as agnostics and atheists alike. Its ultimate purpose is to encourage readers everywhere to engage with the profound and fascinating works that make up the corpus of Ancient Literature.
What is Exegesis?
Exegesis is the careful process of interpreting and analyzing a text—especially sacred or ancient writings—by considering its language, culture, history, and context. It allows us to draw meaning not merely from what a text says, but from why and how it was written. The Exegetical Foundry seeks to make this process accessible, practical, and inspiring for anyone with a curiosity about the world’s ancient wisdom.
Scope of Study
The material found here explores a wide range of ancient works, including the Ancient Near Eastern (ANE) Texts, the Dead Sea Scrolls, Judeo-Christian Scriptures (Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek), as well as ancient philosophical writings and the works of early Church Fathers, Greek authors, and ancient kings. Together, these writings form a tapestry of human experience and divine reflection that continues to shape our world today.
